From OSBIWiki - the Open Manual for Open Source Business Intelligence
Welcome to OSBIWikiThis page is a short introduction to OSBIWiki, The Manual of Open Source Business Intelligence systems. We are working to create an online encyclopedia of all the things that administrators, developers and users of Open Source BI might need to know. OSBIWiki is a web site including a wiki aiming at providing documentation in the form of manual, guide lines or handbook to set up, develop and use business intelligence systems based on open source. The wiki is free and operated on a non-profit [1] basis. Everyone that registers is able to collaborate and add content, OSBIWiki is written collaboratively and its sections can be edited by anyone with access to the Internet. Big as well as small additions to the wiki are of course appreciated. The demand for the OSBIWiki is based on the following assumptions: 1. Building prototypes and make proof of concepts based on Open Source BI should be as easy and as inexpensive as possible. 2. In search of documentation concerning configuration and trouble shooting, we often have to turn to forums on the internet. Forums are good tools for collaboration but unfortunately, it often takes long time to get answers to postings and when searching forums for information the postings are short and often miss crucial information. If the individuals of the user community collaborated by adding their bits and pieces of documentation to a shared manual on internet the OSBIWiki, that would become a great source of information. 3. Some of the providers of open source BI products often commercially offer manuals, which often unfortunately does not meet normal expectation when it comes to the standard of the publication. 4. Postings and articles posted to community forums and wikis operated by providers of open source software may be protected by copyrights laws and therefore not free. The Content of OSBIWiki is published with the GNU Free documentation license. 5. Community forums and wikis operated by consultants or providers of open source software may sometimes be write protected or even protected from reading. Selection of Wiki Categories
OSBIWiki is now available through the domains osbiwiki.org, osbiwiki.com, opensourcebiwiki.org and opensourcebiwiki.com. The Content of the wiki is published with the GNU Free documentation license[2]. OSBIWiki is solution-neutral and independent. |
